Fourier is an FFT for the iPhone! See the frequencies in sound around you in a gorgeous and snappy iOS 4-optimized app.

HOW TO USE:
SINGLE TAP to see the peak frequency and musical note (you can use it as a tuner!)
DOUBLE TAP to pause the spectrum, to take a screenshot, or for more detailed analysis
TAP AND HOLD to bring up a cursor to inspect individual frequencies

Pros and cons of Fourier app for iPhone and iPad

Fourier app good for

Really interesting app, worth buying just to encourage more development!
Thanks for developing useful app. So far it seems that dB scale...vertical axis....can not be moved or adjusted on iPad2 with os5. I hope to have updated one soon...

Some bad moments

This app would be better if you could change the response time and resolution. I like the cursor option but the graph moves so fast you cant place it on a freq soon enough. At $5 I was looking for more adjustability.
IPhone 4 on Verizon. Program sort of worked yesterday when I bought it. Today, nothing works. All I see is an empty grid.
Pluses: very high resolution (taking full advantage of the retina display), great sensitivity - I could use it to watch the turbo pump slowing down across the acoustic range. Minuses: no zoom on the frequency scale, no ability to save digital data of the spectrum.
I bought this to monitor traffic noise at work, but Ive found its also the perfect tool for locating areas I need to concentrate on sound-proofing my home theater... I havent tried this yet, but if youre a sailor and have a pesky overhead leak and a sound generator, Fourier can potentially trace the leak to its source. Sooooo many real-world uses. 5 stars.
I have a PC for tuning systems with SmaartLive. But this app is so useful for times when I am moving about and so many times when I dont even have my PC with me! Highly recommend this app!
This is great! It will help me equalize sound evenly, as I run live sound here for the House of Prayer at the U of MN Please add ability to zoom in/out, choose x and y axis, Save data as text or screenshot.
